The GNOME Project is proud to present GNOME 3.6, the third update to the 3.x series. This latest version of GNOME 3 includes a number of new features and enhancements, as well as many bug fixes and minor improvements. Together, they represent a significant upgrade to the GNOME 3 user experience.

- Big improvements to notifications, including a redesigned Message Tray, smarter notifications, and other tweaks and refinements.
- An enhanced Activities Overview with an improved layout.
- A greatly enhanced Files application, with functional file search, a new Recent location, redesigned interface and lots of bug fixes and handy new features.
- Integrated Input Sources, which makes inputting different character sets (eg. Japanese or Chinese) fast and easy.
- Accessibility on demand, meaning that universal access features like the Orca screen reader can be enabled with the push of a button.
- A new Lock Screen. This provides an attractive view when the device is locked, plus handy functionality like media controls and notifications.
- Activities Overview: New applications button and improved layout.
- Lock Screen: A useful and attractive screen when the screen is locked, plus a new login experience.
- Message Tray: Major updates make it better looking and easier to use.
- Notifications: Smarter, more noticeable, easier to dismiss.
- System Settings: Better looking main interface, many settings have also been improved and extended.
- User Menu: Streamlined user menu with a Power Off by default.
- And More... A truckload of smaller enhancements.
To Install Gnome Shell in Ubuntu 12.10 (Press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy the following commands in the Terminal: Above PPA install Shell 3.5.4 in Ubuntu 12.04 Precise, so you need to install 3.5 extension from below.

Most of the extension is not updated for Gnome Shell 3.6 yet, maybe in future. So official extensions are updated for Gnome Shell 3.6 and available to install.
Some people having problems with their extensions like user-themes extension problem. So now there will not be any problem with Gnome Shell 3.6/3.5/3.4 versions.
